The title of this blog refers to a long-forgotten 19th century writer of novels. Earlier accomplishments included wildlife photography. Eschewing printed or online sources, any guess, think "Jeopardy", as to the full name of this person?
Freckles remains one of my favorite books. My husband bought me a copy he found in a used bookstore a few years ago. Of course, the story is sappy by today's standards, but I did learn that Indiana did have lots of "old growth" forest, etc. -- and I thought it had been cornfield flat forever!

Well if you're gonna tie my hands like that.... :)
I have no idea, but I look forward to reading more about it!
Oh yah!!! Sappy, sappy, sappy but I LOVE Freckles. I also loved The Keeper of the Bees.
